The Science Behind Superb Packaging [Infographic]

By Paul Ward

Packaging usually refers to the process of designing, evaluating and producing products in a way that might be appealing to the customers. It is also a huge part of any product. Whether it’s the latest Apple product or some household cleaning items, packaging ultimately serves two very important jobs. The first is to effectively market the product that is being sold, while the second job is to contain the product inside.

Almost all consumers make their buying decisions based on a number of things, packaging being one of them. People subconsciously base their expectation of a product on the appearance of the packaging it is supplied in, so getting the packaging perfect is a must! Packaging design has played a huge role in consumers’ decisions for years and it doesn’t seem like it’s going to stop any time soon.

So in order to show how packaging has slowly developed over time and to show just how influential it really is, Direct Packaging Solutions created this infographic – “The Science Behind Superb Packaging.”

“I don’t want to talk about it” doesn’t necessarily mean someone won’t communicate, psychologists who study a pattern known as normative male alexithymia have found many men are socialized from childhood to have a genuinely thinner emotional vocabulary to reach for, not a refusal to use the one they have.
