Street Walking: Make Them Smile

Too many of us try to sell our products by themselves, and forget about the experience the customer gets when they purchase and use the product.

This past summer, I took our son to a Day Out with Thomas. For those of you not familiar with this, it includes a ride on a train being pulled by an engine that looks like Thomas, pictures with characters from the show, a promotional tent selling tons of Thomas-themed products, an activity area for the kids to play in after the ride, and plenty of food to keep you around longer.

Here are some examples of how the organizers combined marketing with a great customer experience to create a successful event.

They overwhelmed customers with the experience.

They were authentic.

They threw in a bonus.

They gave customers something to leave with and use to remember the experience.

They sent their customers home with a smile…
