Street Walking: Good Idea, Bad Execution

If you’ve been following our blog, you’ve probably noticed that we’re fans of brick-and-mortar businesses using sidewalk signs to grab some foot traffic. Of course, there is a right way to do this, and a wrong way to do this.

Unfortunately, the sidewalk sign in this photo submitted by Bonfire member Leora Wenger falls into the wrong way category.

I think Leora spots the main issue with the sign. “It is a local business, so I want to be kind. But I can hardly read the sign.” What good is a sign if no one can read it? According to Leora, this business is doing one thing right with their sign. “It stands out because no one else has a sidewalk sign.”

Moral of the story, if you’re going to do something different from everyone else, make it stand out for the right reasons.

Like all of our other marketing examples, make sure you bookmark this for future reference and inspiration.
