It’s National Small Business Week! This week rolls around once a year, recognizing the contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners. Congratulations if you are one of the millions of small business owners being celebrated this week!
So, as we dig into Small Business Week 2015, here are three ways you can celebrate and get involved.
1. Follow the Official Events
The SBA is hitting the road again this year, taking the event to a different location every day this week (Miami/Boca Raton, Los Angeles, San Antonio, New York and Washington, DC). If you happen to live near one of these locations, you can attend and participate live.
But, even if you can’t get there in person, you can follow along online. The SBA website will hosting a series of training webinars during the week. And make sure you follow the official hashtag of the event, #DreamSmallBiz.
2. Focus on Your Business
I know, I know. You’re saying, “Well, duh, I focus on my business every day!” While that may be true, I think this week is the perfect time to revisit all of those “back burner” projects you have simmering on the stove.
You know exactly what I’m talking about… Your revised business plan that’s just “so close” to completion… The marketing campaign you’ve planned but haven’t pulled the trigger on yet… Or how about finally getting your office and filing system organized and cleaned up like you’ve been planning to do for weeks (months?). Take some time this week to focus on your business.
3. Start a Business (with help!)
If you’ve been thinking about starting a business but have yet to get started, consider taking the plunge this week. If you’re not sure where to start, read this article that outlines the 10 steps of starting a business, and check out the Small Business Kickstart Kit that will not only get you motivated, but will help you make some serious progress, too.
And there are always your peers to cheer you on — get some support on the Bonfire community site and on our Facebook page. You may be surprised how many people will be behind you and supporting your new endeavor!
And with that, I’ll leave you to it. I wish you a very happy and productive Small Business Week!
