How can you make your business stand out online? How can you reach your target audience more effectively? In this blog post, I want to share with you three effective ways of promoting your business online.
Use Social Media Influencers
Influencer marketing is often dubbed as the future of marketing and considered by many as one of the most effective digital marketing strategies. And the truth is – it works. Or rather, it works when you know how to find social influencers that are perfect for your business.
When researching influencers, there are two main things you need to check:
- Their niche and their audience
- Their social engagement – both them and their followers
If you find an influencer you like the look of, go through their blog and their social media activity to get a better idea of the type of content they create and share. This will help you understand whether you are targeting the same audiences – which is essential if you want your influencer marketing campaign to work, as you’ll want to make sure you’re reaching the right people.
Next, you need to look into their engagement and this too, is very important. Forget about follower numbers – hundreds of thousands of followers don’t mean anything if they don’t engage at all. Not to mention, the influencer too needs to engage with their audience; the influencer-follower relationship needs to be a two-way street, not just the influencer shouting and his/her followers listening with one year.
To check engagement levels, you can use a tool like Agorapulse to compare different Twitter/Facebook accounts:

As you can see, you’ll be able to see what the quality of the audience is like, the quality of engagement and so on – enough to help you understand how engaged the influencer and their audience are.
Another useful tool here is Buzzsumo, which tells you what an influencers’ reply ratio is, how often they retweet, and their average retweets:

Start a Blog
Blogging can be a very powerful tool, when used right. While it’s true that it can be time consuming, particularly for a small business that doesn’t have as many disposable resources, the results are worth the effort:
- More traffic to your website
- Increase trust and loyalty among visitors and customers
- Boost your search engine optimisation
- Generate more subscribers
- Convert more visitors
As you can see, an effective business blogging plan can bring a lot of benefits to the table. Be consistent, write new content regularly, diversify your content and add great incentives to your blog posts to generate more conversions – and you’ll be able to start growing and scaling your business.
So, get your editorial calendar ready, and start writing now.
Work on Your Websites’ SEO
How much attention are you offering to your websites’ search engine optimisation? Are you working towards building up your ranking? Search engines are the number one source of traffic, so it’s very important to work on boosting your SEO if you want to keep getting more new customers and grow your business. Not to mention, better ranking inspires more trust among customers.
So, how can you get started? Even if you don’t have the resources to get someone to do your SEO for you, or you’re not very familiar with SEO, there are still some things that you can do to improve your websites’ SEO:
- Perform keyword research using a tool like Google’s Keyword Planner to understand the terminology your audience is using to search for businesses like yours; you can then use these keywords on your website:

- And, since we only just discussed blogging, did you know that having a blog on your website can increase your number of indexed pages by 434%? Plus, with a blog, you can target keywords for each post, improve your link building and much more.
- Outbound links and internal linking: link internally to your own content and pages, but don’t forget to also link to other reputable websites.
Content marketing (and blogging), SEO and influencer marketing can all be extremely effective tools – which is why they are now some of the most popular digital marketing techniques. All three help you reach a larger audience, they help you boost trust among audiences and they have the potential to help your business grow and scale.
